Yes, But...

Of course, our old friend "yes, but…"- I know him well, in fact I have a hard time getting rid of him!
But you know what?
The cool thing is that you may not be able to get rid of him for good- this annoying inner and outer critic- but you can neutralize him if you are on the ball.
I find this to be one of the more challenging and fruitful part of the coaching process, it is when I lend my client the power of good listening to catch the "ya, but" just as it is coming out of the mouth, but not without the empathic support, the focused questioning and the professional bonding of the coaching relationship.

And as we go on, the "yes, buts" keeping coming and we keep neutralizing.
Step by step, one by one, focusing on the vision but acting in the present.

Don't let the "yes, buts" get the better of you- YOU DESERVE MORE!

"I'm not ready yet….well, you probably are!"

Another very common thing I hear as a change-oriented coach from a large number or clients is something to the tune of, " Yes, of course, but I am not ready yet…".
We all know this, don't we?
It is fear talking out of our mouth, the mind working overtime when the heart really wants to say, "I'm scared!'.
The fact is that too many people have gone to their graves with the desired change within them, now buried beneath the ground.
As a coach I know very well that the great challenge is to help the client get off the fence and into the field- if we wait until our lives are free from sorrow, difficulty or opposition, then we may lose it forever.
Life, change and entrepreneurship, and many more things is about taking that first step.

And then another.
And then another…

Problem?…pause…do not stop!

How many people do you know who started something wonderful, got a lot of energy at the beginning and then…hit the first batch problems and then that was the end of that- end of project!
What a shame…isn't it all about problems in the end?
Once you meet the problem you are meeting reality and without reality, forget it! I think that it is actually a blessing to have these problems because it is they who focus you, call you up create an energy by which you can really move forward.

In the words of Robert Schuller, "Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines".

So…problems…pause…re-organize…don't stop!
